The Opportunity
This is a permanent OR Manager opportunity at an acute care facility in Fredericksburg, Virginia — a full-scope leadership role overseeing a 4-suite surgical service with approximately 15 direct reports. If you have been running an operating room, managing a surgical team, and holding a schedule together with real accountability, this role aligns with where your career is headed. A formal manager title is not required. Strong charge nurse or supervisory experience in surgical services is the target profile here.
The position carries broad operational ownership: OR scheduling, staffing management, supply chain stewardship, productivity oversight, and active involvement in peri-operative performance improvement. You will carry 24-hour accountability for the quality and efficiency of surgical services, working alongside an experienced clinical team inside a well-resourced acute care environment. One position is available, scheduled full-time on days with rotating weekends.
The organization offers a stable, structured clinical environment backed by one of the most established healthcare networks in the Commonwealth. Growth into broader system leadership is a realistic trajectory for the right candidate. Compensation is competitive based on experience.
To qualify, candidates must hold an active Virginia RN license, current BLS for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association or CPR through the American Red Cross, and at least two years of recent OR or surgical services experience in an acute care setting. A BSN or MSN is preferred. Charge nurse, supervisory, or similar leadership experience with direct reports in surgical services is strongly preferred over a formal management background. Comfort with peri-operative workflows, surgical scheduling, staffing accountability, and performance improvement initiatives will set you apart.

The Package
Why Fredericksburg?
Fredericksburg, Virginia sits at the midpoint between Washington, D.C. and Richmond — roughly 50 miles from each — and delivers a quality of life that neither metro market can match at its price point. The city's historic downtown lines the Rappahannock River with independent restaurants, coffee shops, craft breweries, and boutiques housed in 18th- and 19th-century architecture. The riverfront trail system connects to broader regional greenways, and Shenandoah National Park is under two hours away for weekend hiking, climbing, and backcountry camping. The surrounding landscape includes Civil War battlefield parks, and easy access to the Chesapeake Bay watershed makes fishing and kayaking a legitimate part of weekend life here.
Families consistently rank Fredericksburg-area school districts among Virginia's strongest, and the region's cost of living sits well below the Northern Virginia corridor despite continued investment in infrastructure, retail, and the arts. The commute profile is short and largely local — no gridlock, no extended toll roads, no hour-plus drives just to get home. Four full seasons give the area genuine variety: mild springs, warm summers, vivid fall foliage, and occasional snow that does not overstay its welcome. Whether you are planting roots for the long term or looking for a place that supports a serious career without consuming your life outside of it, Fredericksburg has the range and character to make the move worthwhile.
