    Registered Nurse Surgery

Overland Park, Kansas Permanent Day Shift

    The Opportunity

Surgery RNs who want to build real OR depth have a rare opening here. This is a full-time, permanent position inside a Level II Trauma Center running 500+ cases a year across a case mix that spans Trauma, General, ENT, Ortho, Urology, GYN, and Neuro. You are not cycling through the same three procedures on repeat. This is the kind of breadth that makes a surgical career, and multiple openings are currently available.

Two scheduling tracks are on the table. The first is five 8-hour day shifts with a 6:45 AM start. The second is three 12-hour night shifts beginning at 7:00 PM. Self-scheduling is posted four weeks in advance, which gives you real predictability rather than last-minute scramble. On-call is required during select non-business hours and will be discussed in full during the interview process.

The facility invests continuously in surgical instruments, devices, and patient positioning equipment. Night differential and on-call pay are part of the compensation structure. A sign-on bonus is available on a case-by-case basis, and relocation assistance is negotiable. Compensation is competitive based on experience. The team culture is built on mutual respect across surgical staff, with unit leaders who actively round and solicit floor-level input — not just in theory.

To be considered, candidates must hold an active RN license in the State of Kansas and bring at least one year of recent OR experience in a Scrub and/or Circulating role. Acute care background is required. BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire. This position reports to the Manager/Director level.

If your OR background lines up, let's connect. Reply here, book a quick call, or reach out directly — we will walk you through the details and keep it efficient.

    Why Overland Park?

Overland Park sits in Johnson County, about 13 miles southwest of downtown Kansas City — close enough for full metro access, far enough to feel like somewhere worth settling into. The city consistently ranks among the best places to live in the Midwest, and the fundamentals hold up under scrutiny. The Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission school districts draw families specifically for academic performance and are among the most recognized in the state. Housing costs run well below national averages for comparable square footage, and the average commute within the city is under 20 minutes. More than 80 parks and over 100 miles of connected trails spread across the area, with the Indian Creek Trail system linking neighborhoods to greenways and open space. The dining and retail scene along 119th Street has grown well beyond what a suburb typically offers, and the overall feel reflects a city that has matured without losing its livability.

For those who want outdoor access without leaving the metro, the region delivers year-round. The Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, Waterfall Park, and a dense network of recreational facilities see genuine use across all four seasons — winters are cold but manageable, summers are warm, and the calendar between is excellent for trail use, cycling, and outdoor recreation. The broader Kansas City metro brings major league sports, a nationally recognized barbecue scene, a growing tech and business corridor, and a cultural footprint anchored by institutions like the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. For someone weighing a relocation, Overland Park is a practical and appealing landing point — strong infrastructure, real community, and a cost of living that leaves room to enjoy it.
