The Opportunity
This is a direct-hire Nurse Manager seat leading the Main OR at a high-acuity acute care medical center in Santa Rosa, California. The role carries full 24-hour unit accountability — staffing, fiscal oversight, interdisciplinary coordination, and policy development across a busy surgical service line. That operational depth is a real credential. P&L exposure at this level, combined with service-line complexity and staff leadership, is exactly the track record that positions nurses for director and VP conversations down the road.
The position is full-time, running 8-hour day shifts. You'll be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and managing the nursing care delivered to the surgical patient population. That means owning the unit environment: modeling collaborative working relationships across hospital functions, developing policies and standards of care, and ensuring that every patient's nursing needs are assessed and met.
Compensation is competitive based on experience. The benefits package is comprehensive — 401(k) with employer match, medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, paid parental leave, and a range of voluntary and well-being resources. This is a permanent placement with the stability and support of a well-established regional medical system.
California RN licensure is required upon hire, along with current BLS certification through the American Heart Association. A minimum of two years of recent clinical experience is required, and candidates should have a strong OR or acute care background. A BSN is preferred, along with five or more years of clinical experience and at least two years of management experience. A specialty certificate relevant to the unit is also preferred. Candidates should be comfortable with standard computer systems and clinical documentation tools.

The Package
Why Santa Rosa?
Santa Rosa sits at the heart of Sonoma County — one of the most livable and genuinely appealing regions in all of Northern California. The city strikes a balance that is hard to find: a walkable, active downtown with a strong local restaurant and craft beverage scene, a close-knit community feel, and access to both urban amenities and wide-open space. Families consistently find the area well-suited for putting down roots, with solid public and private school options and neighborhoods that feel safe and engaged. Commute times across the city average under 20 minutes — a rarity in California and a meaningful quality-of-life factor for anyone running a demanding clinical unit.
The outdoor access here is exceptional by any measure. Trione-Annadel State Park sits practically at the city's edge, with more than 40 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and trail running. The Pacific coast is roughly 45 minutes west, with Bodega Bay and the Sonoma Coast State Park both within easy reach for a weekend morning. The Russian River winds through the region, offering kayaking and swimming when the weather turns warm. World-class wineries are in every direction — Napa is just over an hour, and Sonoma Valley starts practically in your backyard. For clinicians who have spent years in dense metro environments, Santa Rosa tends to feel less like a relocation and more like a reset.
