The Opportunity
This is a direct-hire opportunity for a seasoned OR leader ready to take full ownership of a high-volume surgical service line. The role is Manager of Surgical Services at a 267-bed Level II Trauma Center on Florida's Emerald Coast. You will oversee 10 main operating rooms and a dedicated CVOR, leading a team of approximately 62 FTEs. Reporting directly to the Director of Surgical Services, the position carries genuine operational weight — with an average daily case volume of 25 and a full-service trauma platform behind every shift.
This is a days-only, permanent placement with one open position. The environment is clinically demanding and well-resourced — the kind of setting that suits a leader who is high-energy, team-oriented, and comfortable managing complexity across a broad surgical scope.
The benefits package is substantial. Medical coverage includes many services at no cost or low copay, with prescription drug, behavioral health, and telemedicine services included. The 401(k) plan carries a 100% match on 3% to 9% of pay based on years of service. Additional offerings include an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, education assistance, dental and vision options, paid time off, paid family leave, and short- and long-term disability coverage. Relocation assistance is considered on a case-by-case basis. Compensation is competitive based on experience.
Candidates must hold an active Registered Nurse license and current BLS certification. A minimum of three or more years of recent acute care Operating Room leadership experience is required — that experience must be current, within the last year. An Associate Degree is the minimum education requirement. The facility is looking for leaders who bring energy, adaptability, and a genuinely collaborative approach to building and sustaining a strong team culture.

The Package
Why Fort Walton Beach?
Fort Walton Beach sits on Florida's Emerald Coast, a stretch of the Gulf of Mexico that earns the name — the water runs vivid blue-green, the sand is fine and white, and the pace shifts from quiet beach town to one of the more spirited coastal communities in the Southeast depending on the season. The city is compact and unpretentious, with a strong local identity shaped by decades of military presence from Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field. That history has produced a community that is steady, family-rooted, and grounded — not a transient resort crowd, but people building lives here for the long term.
The surrounding region is genuinely livable. Destin sits just to the east, offering a wider selection of dining, retail, and entertainment without requiring a trip to a major metro. Pensacola is roughly 50 miles west, Panama City Beach about the same distance east — both carry regional airports for when travel is necessary. Schools in Okaloosa County are well-regarded. The cost of living runs reasonable for a waterfront Gulf community, and Florida's lack of a state income tax adds meaningful value to any compensation package. Outdoor life here is not a weekend category — deep-sea fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and Gulf-front parks are built into daily life. For a clinician looking to plant roots somewhere that does not require trading quality of place for quality of career, this stretch of the Panhandle delivers both.
