The Opportunity
This is a director-level opportunity for a surgical services leader ready to step into a high-visibility role with real operational scope. You will oversee a high-volume surgical program — currently running 450 to 500 cases monthly across CV, ortho, neuro spine, vascular, GYN, and general surgery — inside the only Level II Trauma Center in Johnson County. The facility is actively mid-construction on a capital project that will expand from 11 to 13 ORs, double SPD capacity, and double pre-op and PACU. The incoming director will have a genuine opportunity to shape the department's next chapter, not simply manage what already exists.
This is a full-time, permanent placement working days with no weekends. One position is available now.
The organization offers compensation that is competitive based on experience, along with a performance-based incentive bonus program. Relocation assistance is negotiable. You will report directly to the hospital COO with three manager-level direct reports — OR Manager, SPD Manager, and Periop Manager covering pre-op, PACU, GI, and PAT — and lead an overall team of 75 FTEs. This is a role with organizational visibility and the infrastructure to support serious career growth.
Candidates must hold an active RN license and a BSN. An MSN is preferred. A minimum of two years of director-level surgical services experience is required, along with at least three years of acute care surgical services background. Strong clinical leadership, staffing accountability, budget oversight, and the ability to drive quality outcomes across a multi-service line environment are essential to success in this role.

The Package
Why Overland Park?
Overland Park sits in the southern Kansas City metro and consistently ranks among the most livable cities in the Midwest. The cost of living runs well below coastal and major-market averages, and the housing market reflects that — quality homes in established, well-maintained neighborhoods at price points that simply do not exist in comparable urban markets. The city is a consistent draw for families, and for good reason: Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission school districts are among the most recognized in the country for academic performance, programming, and overall quality.
The lifestyle here is active and genuinely accessible. More than 80 city parks, trails, and green spaces are distributed throughout the area, and the Overland Park Arboretum gives residents a natural retreat without leaving the city limits. Downtown Kansas City is a 20 to 25 minute drive — close enough for major league sports, a world-class arts scene, nationally recognized restaurants, and a live music culture that consistently outperforms its market size. The Kansas City barbecue scene alone draws visitors from across the country. Traffic is real but predictable, and most commutes within the metro stay well under 30 minutes. For candidates weighing a relocation, this is a market that delivers on quality of life without the premium pricing of coastal cities.
